Day 1 : Marrakech airport
You will be welcomed at the airport, before heading to your bed and breakfast for the night.
Day 2 : Marrakech – Tichka Col – Ouarzazate – Agdez – Draa Valley – Zagora – Faija
On the 2nd day you’ll get a minibus from Marrakech to Tichka Pass, the highest and most beautiful road pass in Morocco. After the pass, to the south of Morocco, as you drive to Ouarzazate and Ait Saounayou’ll get to see oases, beautiful vistas and landscapes in the process of becoming desert.
After lunch here, you will begin the long descent to the famous Valley of Draa with its 200 miles of date palms and by Agdez, you will have seen some of the most beautiful landscapes Morocco has to offer. At Zagora, a van will complete the next stretch of road for you and you will find yourself staring out over the great desert plateau Faija.
36 km from there, the group will meet the team of camel drivers, at a mountain ridge in the desert, deep in the desert evening at Jebel Ban.
Day 3 : Plateau Faija – Jebel Bani – Col Umm Laachar – Oued Lemhasser – Oasis
An early start loading camels and a 30-minute walk on the plateau and mountains of Faija, before you start trekking in the desert. Then you will have an easy, but slightly rocky descent, past the black mountain and on to have lunch in a desert valley. After lunch you and the group continue on to arrive at the camp, identifiable by a small spring flowing through it. Camp will be made at the foot of Jbel Abes.
Day 4 : Oued Lemhasser – Chegaga
When you get up, you’ll set out along a dry riverbed that will take you out into the desert sands. From there, you will start at a rocky plateau, just after the pass at El Abbes and head to Chegaga to make camp, taking in the deep desert’s stunning views and atmosphere.
Day 5 : Chegaga – Bougarn
Day 5 will take you out of the multitude of small dunes in Chegaga toward the direction of Mhamid and Oued Draa. The group will stop under the trees at Tamarist for food and then head on to the dunes of Bougarn. This is an area that has not been widely traveled, which is surprising considering how beautiful it can be. The evening will be spent sleeping under the stars.
Day 6 : Bougarn – Wadi Naam
You will need to get up early to appreciate a beautiful desert morning. The small shrubs, small dunes, Tamarist trees and desert acacia combine to create a wonderful atmosphere as the sun rises in the east.
You and the group will then head out across the dunes and desert plain to Oued Naam to camp for the night.
Day 7 : Oued Naam – Mhamid – Marrakech
This is your last day of your trip in the desert. You and the group will head to Mhamid, where you can have a shower, remove all traces of sand and take a well-earned rest before returning to Marrakech, just after lunch.
